LIDO REGENCY
is a Condominium Association located at 1700 Benjamin Franklin Drive, Lido
Beach, City of Sarasota, Sarasota County, Florida |
|
The Lido Regency
was constructed in 1968
on Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida. Our 12 stories plus penthouse floor was
built as a rental apartment house and originally named the Key Towers
- the first high rise to be built on Ben Franklin Drive. Two years later our
sister building to the south, Key Towers South, was constructed by the same
Chicago developer. It was at this time that our building converted to
condominium apartment ownership. Our property of 85 condominium units and 85
carport parking spaces includes a Gulf front swimming pool and terrace
leading directly onto the beach. The Lido Regency has a multipurpose room
with private kitchen and an exercise room/library overlooking the beach and
Gulf waters. Across Ben Franklin Drive from the building is a County owned
nature preserve; never to permit building development and securing our view
of Sarasota Bay and the City for those owners facing east.

John Ringling had
purchased these islands with plans for a major tourist
attraction. Although the reality did not arrive within his lifetime,
Lido and St.Armands Keys maintain world-class status featuring elegant
shops, award winning restaurants and fine hotels. The islands are
linked with bridges to the mainland of Sarasota as well as the island of
Longboat. An average year round 75-degree temperature makes this island
paradise very conducive for just about anything. Tennis and golf
enthusiasts will find first-class facilities near-by. Bikers and
rollerblades can travel along the shoreline or wend their way through
park-like settings and tropical side streets. Charter a boat with or
without a captain and explore the area's many bays and backwaters, or
take to the ocean for , scuba diving and snorkeling. North Lido Key is a
pristine half-mile stretch of sand accented by towering Australian
pines. Spanning an area behind a residential location, it is the least
populated and perfect for walking. Perhaps you prefer being around
people, making new friends and enjoying the beach scene. |
|
Mid-key, the public beach
supports a swimming pool, playground, concession stand and
shops. Lifeguards are on duty all year-round. At the southern end of
Lido Key, you'll find 100 acres of Australian pines, picnic tables,
grills, a volleyball court and playground. Nature lovers enjoy the
wooden walkways, trails and canoeing opportunities at South Lido Park.
Evening entertainment is only a short stroll away to St. Armand's
Key. A circular park dedicated to the memory of John Ringling, is
flanked by sophisticated restaurants, nightclubs, exclusive shops and
exotic boutiques. Legendary fine dining can be found both on and off the
Key. Whether your taste is for lobster bisque with a dash of sherry,
roast rack of lamb accented with tarragon and fresh garlic, stone crab
claws with tangy mustard sauce or simply a down-home juicy cheeseburger,
the range of award winning fare caters to a multitude of appetite
whims.
